Always there for you.

One thing you can count on is that when you call 911, NYC's First Responders will be there for you. It can be rain, snow or any type of weather, they are going to do everything they can to get to you and help you.

Our First Responders, will charge into a collapse building without thinking about their own safety, putting the patient in need first. One of the greatest examples of this was witnessed on September 11th, 2001, when almost every NYC First Responder raced towards the World Trade Center.

First Responders don't care who you are, what you socioeconomic background maybe or any other trait. They will treat you the same, providing a level of care today, that was only available in the walls of a hospital, just a few years ago. Most Paramedics can trace their roots back to the Los Angles County Fire Department, who's innovation was displayed in the TV Show Emergency. Most in the EMS field look back to the start of this TV show in 1972 as the start of the Paramedic program in the United States with each bring new skills from the hospital to the streets of your city.

First Responders, including Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics respond to all kinds of emergencies, from people getting hit by a car to someone having a heart attack. Recently a Fire Chief from Austin Texas said in a conference "We did too good with teaching people to call 911". One of the side effects of 911 campaigns has been the use of the emergency number for everything type of medical event. This has resulted in our First Responders having to deal with minor incidents such as a toothache and not being able to respond to the serious incidents like a stoke. Our First Responders will be there when you need them but the public has to start understanding when they need to see a doctor or when they need to be rushed by an ambulance to the hospital.
